Burma Family Adventure - Myanmar
You could wait in long lines at Disney World with multitudes of other hot, cranky families – or you could take your brood on an actual adventure to Burma (also known as Myanmar). Over a span of 12 days, this country of ancient civilizations will be revealed, giving your children a unique look at an emerging world destination. Add in some biking and hiking in order to visit different areas and you’ve got the perfect avenue to immerse your family in a dynamic new – yet old – culture.
Day 1 Yangon
Arrive any time today. An arrival transfer is included.
Day 2 Yangon/Mandalay
Fly to Mandalay and explore this ancient city, including the Golden Palace Monastery, Kuyuk Taw Gyi Pagoda, Kuthodaw Pagoda, and Mahamuni Temple. Climb Mandalay Hill for magnificent views of the surrounding countryside.
Day 3 Mandalay
Take a boat to the village of Mingun to visit the pagodas and local craftspeople. Check out the spiritual centre of Burma at Sagaing and the ancient royal capital of Amarapura.
Day 4 Mandalay
Go on an excursion to Pyin Oo Lwin, a former British hill station.
Day 5 Mandalay/Bagan
Relax and watch the sights on a full day cruise down the Irrawaddy River to ancient Bagan.
Day 6 Bagan
Explore the ancient sites of Bagan including the temples of Shwezigon Pagoda, Gubyaukgyi (Wetkyi-in) cave temple, and Manuha and Nan Paya temples, to name a few. Receive a blessing at a local monastery, continue to a handicraft workshop, and visit the Nyaung Oo local market.
Day 7 Bagan
Visit a local village and toddy farm for demonstrations and lunch.
Day 8 Bagan/Inle Lake
Travel by plane and bus to reach Pindaya. Slip on some walking shoes and trek up to Danu villages. Spend the night at a monastery.
Day 9 Inle Lake
Return from Yasakyi on a hike down from the monastery, heading back to Pindaya. Make the journey from here to Nyaung Shwe, the gateway to Inle Lake.
Day 10 Inle Lake
Explore the lake by boat and visit the floating villages and the daily market. Visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda and the Nge Phe Chaung Monastery.
Day 11 Kalaw/Yangon
Explore the lake by boat and visit the floating villages and the daily market. Visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda and Inthien Temple complex.
Day 12 Yangon
Depart at any time today.
