Casa Querce - Southern Sardinia
The first thing you’ll notice as you enter the grounds of Casa Querce is the sheer size of the immaculately kept lawns and gardens. There is a glassy pond surrounded by reeds, lentisco and ancient holm oak trees, flowering shrubs of oleander and shimmering pampas grass. The general atmosphere is overwhelmingly rural despite the lively town of Pula being only a couple of kilometres away.
The gardens also conceal what is probably the property’s jewel: the dazzling pool. Surrounded by sculpted rock gardens and low shrubs, this area gets the sun all day long – though you can seek shade under some nearby olive trees – and it is as inviting and peaceful as you could hope for.
At the centre of the grounds stands the ochre coloured house. All on one level it has a cool, alluring interior. The split-level lounge area is decorated with a number of unusual artefacts from the owner’s extensive travels and there is dark chocolate coloured furniture, which is set off against the white walls. The well-equipped and sizeable kitchen opens out onto a large terrace area perfect for soaking up the sun and for extended meal times.
