Hotel Villa Las Tronas - Alghero & the North West
Hotel Villa Las Tronas is possibly the most surprising and unique hotel to be found in Sardinia, standing on a natural peninsula and offering breathtaking views over the deep blue waters of the Mediterranean. It is surrounded by lovely green gardens and by the sea on three sides, yet it is only a few minutes’ walk from the ramparts of Old Alghero. It has dramatic west-facing views to the cliffs of Capo Caccia standing in the distance.
The villa was originally built at the end of the 19th century, and was transformed to its current castle-like style in the 1920s. Until the 1940s it was the holiday home of the Kings of Italy and in 1959 was converted into a hotel. It is as remarkable inside as out. The spacious main rooms, though modernised, keep much the air of the 19th century and each room differs slightly from the next with the addition of carefully chosen antique furniture. All of the distinct, classically furnished rooms and suites have either sea or garden views, a few have large sea-facing balconies.
The restaurant of Villa Las Tronas, facing the Gulf of Alghero, will give you the opportunity to taste refined Mediterranean specialities by candlelight while piano and flute music is played in the background,a truly spectacular setting!
