Casa Matteucci - Tuscany
This recently restored Tuscan farmhouse is surrounded by lush greenery. Surrounded by the wide open spaces of a vast estate that’s dotted with terraced olive groves, it overlooks a large picturesque pond complete with an island accessible by a single bridge. Casa Matteucci was once home to Felice Matteucci, whose name the villa still proudly honours. In 1854 he invented the first stroke engine, a prototype to the modern-day motor car, in his on-site workshop. Steeped in history today’s luxury villa offers a delightful combination of old and new. Traditional features such as flagstone flooring and high arched ceilings have been retained, but all the comforts a discerning guest now requires have been added. You’ll find a small gym alongside the spacious and well-appointed salon, elegant dining room and fully equipped Tuscan kitchen. The six en suite double bedrooms are all air-conditioned and individually decorated to highlight their unique character. Outside the expansive grounds encompass a beautiful lawned area. A large private swimming pool, encircled by sunloungers, sits alongside a lovely terraced dining area.
